Google's Asia Pacific vice president said its most successful employees have a "growth mindset." She explained that among Google's most successful staff "a growth mindset is a common characteristic … It's one of the biggest drivers of good performance and results." O'Keefe offered advice on developing a growth mindset, emphasizing that it's all about nurturing your curiosity to increase your knowledge in different areas. The La Brea tar pits captured dire wolves, sabertooth cats, and other megafaunal for millennia. Statues of megafaunal mammals give La Brea Tar Pit visitors a sense of what animals roamed the area thousands of years ago. The loss of herbivores at La Brea could've contributed to a feedback loop, making fires — however, they started — more intense, the paper's authors say. Paelongotolist MacPhee cautions that there could be other explanations for why these animals in the 61/67 tar pits stopped appearing. Excavation of the La Brea tar pits has yielded hundreds of thousands of fossils.

Interviews with a U.S. senator, congressional staffers, AI companies and interest groups show there are a number of options under discussion. Some proposals focus on AI that may put people's lives or livelihoods at risk, like in medicine and finance. Other possibilities include rules to ensure AI isn't used to discriminate or violate someone's civil rights. Another debate is whether to regulate the developer of AI or the company that uses it to interact with consumers. GOVERNMENT MICROMANAGEMENTThe risk-based approach means AI used to diagnose cancer, for example, would be scrutinized by the Food and Drug Administration, while AI for entertainment would not be regulated.
